NIGHT IN THE WOODS

Fire crackling, rabbit roasting, dusk arrived
Toes burning, steam rising, bottom shifting
Wind embracing bones, rain tapping my hat
 Fingers warming, clothes steaming, thrived

Shelter, protective, dry, sleeping bag waiting
Leaves, branches, sticks, fern, grass, stones
Spiders, creepy crawlies, dust, dirt, mud
Fox cries, owl hoots, badgers forage, rustling

Aliens Arrive

Aliens arrive unfettered, just coming in
Days nights, they never stop, mum dad kids
Free food, shelter, mobile, leather jacket and coin
Crawling, sneaking, creeping, hiding within

Furnished houses given free, translators contacted
System in overflow, everything given, crazy
Take, taken, nothing given, we are fools
We pay, give, provide, system twisted

To My Soulmate Julie

Lives are for living I live for you
Dreams are for dreaming I dream for you
Hearts are for beating mine beats for you
Angels are for keeping. Can I keep you?

MY BEER

Confined yet overflowing, ice cool sides
Yearning for lips, golden and creamy
Cold, misty glass, taste trapped
Fine water, hops no chlorides

Long, tall, no handle slippy glass
Fresh pulled, mouth watering
Thirst abating amber nectar
My favourite beer in a pint glass

Shooting in the Rain

Gun on arm, waterproofs working
Wellingtons splashing, head down
Hat dripping, wind blowing, brewing
Mud, puddles, struggling, bent walking

Trees blown, grass flat, sideways rain
Leaves flying, fields flooded, gusts
Glasses misted, hair in eyes, insane
Cows lying, sheep huddled, soaked

Clouds twisting swirling growing
Black bags flying, gates banging
Nearly there, collar up, bracing
Two hours to go, tea needed

Rude Boaters

Throttle full, boat on plain, wake behind
Hair blows, cobwebs gone, exhilarating
Holding on, steering straight, beer in hand
Trim tabs set, waves sliced, she’s streamlined

Throttle back, off plain, chug, chug again
More beer, pork pies too, music blaring
People staring, pointing, fishermen angry
Waterfowl flee, power up helmsman
